Just when I made a post the other day about Scalebound being one of my most anticipated games for 2016, news today broke that it is now delayed until an unspecified date in 2017. It was originally supposed to ship sometime in the latter half of 2016. Hopefully we’ll see it early 2017 now and not any later than that.
Platinum Games made the announcement today about the delay saying that the additional development time will “help bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.” Scalebound is one of the largest games they’ve taken on, so a delay can sort of make sense.
They also added, “Development on the game is going well and we’re really happy with how it’s coming together. Scalebound is one of the biggest games Platinum Games has ever created: an epic adventure filled with exploration and fantasy gameplay, inventive multiplayer, and action-packed battles on an unbelievable scale–all set in a beautiful and evolving world. It’s the game our team has always dreamed of making.”
So while this is some sad news about Scalebound, the delay can only make the game better (in theory). On the bright-side there will be plenty of other games to play this coming year to keep us occupied while we wait longer for Scalebound to arrive.
